Welcome to another fun and exciting schoolyear! We are delighted to introduce this year’s team of Specialist Teachers for Early Years and Elementary.

Early Years

Music — Mrs. Mylene D. Pastor (mpastor@cismanila.org)

Since she got her teaching license in 2002, Ms. Myles started working with students from Early Years to High School in different international and progressive schools in Metro Manila. She graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines (Diliman) with Bachelor of Music in Music Education, and Master of Arts in Teaching in the Early Grades (Kindergarten to Grade 2) degrees. As a lifelong learner, she finished an online course on Visible Thinking from Harvard Graduate School of Education (Project Zero) in 2018, and has attended the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) Teachers’ Conferences in Malaysia and Thailand in 2017 and 2019 respectively. She is married and has two daughters and a son.

Visual Arts and Digital Literacy — Ms. Maria Cristina Pilar A. Lagdameo (mlagdameo@cismanila.org)

Cris Lagdameo is on her fifth year at Chinese International School Manila, and her twelfth year in the profession, having taught a range of grades from Nursery to Middle School at various schools in Manila, Philadelphia, and New York City. She holds a Master of Science in Education degree with a major in Reading, Writing and Literacy from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, along with an AB English Literature degree from Ateneo de Manila University.  As a lifelong learner, she has attended the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) Teachers’ Conference in Malaysia in 2017, and continues to find ways to hone her craft through attending various professional development.


PE — Ms. Winnen D. Chan (wchan@cismanila.org)

Coach Winnen is a graduate of Bachelor of Physical Education at West Visayas State University. She has been teaching Physical Education with primary students for 8 years. It’s her 11th year in teaching and 5th year in CISM.  She is also the school’s Sports Coordinator. A mother of one and very passionate in making learning FUN for children!

Elementary School

Art — Mr. Nelson Suarez (nsuarez@cismanila.org)

Nelson Suarez teaches Visual Arts to elementary students at CISM.  He is very passionate about creating Artwork and sharing his enthusiasm, skills, and values to educate young students.  He also has a background as a Math teacher in the United States, graduated (2006) from the California Polytechnic University of Pomona in Pomona, California with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, and holds a Professional Engineering License.  His technical background and life-long interest in the visual arts has enabled him to structure his work and teaching in a very clear and methodical way, making it engaging and fun, simple to understand and emulate. He believes it is important for young students to develop art skills and appreciation; nonetheless, he emphasizes the importance of original work, exploration, idea creation, imagination, expression, and even beauty that visual arts provides to his students empowering them to make a difference in their own lives and the world around them.

Digital Literacy Grades 1-4 — Ms. Zen Martinez (amartinez@cismanila.org)

Zen Martinez is the current Lower School Digital Literacy Teacher for Grades 1 to 4. She graduated from University of the Philippines. Zen taught Digital Literacy in the Upper School division of Chinese International School Manila (CISM) from 2016 to 2019. She is a Google Certified Educator. Zen loves teaching and learning about Digital Citizenship, Google Apps, Scratch, Makey Makey, Robotics, and MIT App Inventor.

Digital Literacy Grade 5 — Ms. Mary Rose Loria (mloria@cismanila.org)

Marose Loria is a returning faculty at Chinese International School Manila. She has taught 6 years at CISM, and at different international schools in Manila, Thailand and Guatemala.  Marose graduated from the University of the Philippines with a bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science, and is also a certified Level 2 Google Educator. She keeps up with technology trends in education by attending various professional development opportunities like the recent International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Teachers’ Conference held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA last June 2019. Marose loves experiencing new things, so she likes to tinker and travel!

PE Grades 1-4 — Mr. Zuriel Castro (zcastro@cismanila.org)

Coach Zuriel handles the Physical Education class. He holds a Bachelor of Physical Education degree from the University of the Philippines, Diliman and is taking his Master’s degree in Human Movement Science from the same university. He has been teaching Physical Education for 5 years and it will be his 1st year teaching at Chinese International School Manila.
