Fun-filled Learning

Time really flies when you’re having fun! This is very true with the early year’s PE classes as we do a variety of fun physical activities that not just challenges their body but also develops their critical thinking at a young age. I think that one of the most important aspects in teaching and learning is having fun while you’re learning something. That way, the students are more engaged and enthusiastic, not only when doing fun games and activities but also during discussions.

Kindergarten class was presented with simple challenges that allow them to think individually, as a pair, and as a group. They enjoyed their balancing activities, creating shapes with their body parts, and fun games. But the most fun part? Log rolls!

Meanwhile, the Pre-K class was able to practice and develop their fine motor skills, from throwing and catching balls, to tossing, bouncing, rolling, and kicking different types of balls. They managed to apply these skills in a form of modified simple basketball and football games.

Nursery class is a very cute, adorable and energetic class to handle. They had very similar lessons and activities with Pre-K but they never get tired!

It has been a fun-filled quarter but most of them are ecstatic for our next PE classes as we are about to do dance!

Happy Chinese New Year!

As the CISM community celebrated the commencement of the year of the Fire Rooster headed by the Chinese Department, the PE Department also reached the culmination of Sports Day II or Palarong CISM. It was all fun and games for the dragons as they showcased their competitive spirits and house pride. The Red Phoenix, Blue Griffins and Yellow Minotaurs all competed in month-long sport festivities. Sports Day I and II aimed to develop good sportsmanship and camaraderie among all our students. These traits were all evident particularly in our Early Years students. At a young age, they understood that it’s not all about winning, but also playing the game properly and enjoying the game. Among the games played were Pop Corn Tag, Capture the Cone, Simple Basketball and Football Shootout, and Cross the River. They were all tired due to the day-long combined activities of Chinese New Year and Sports Day 2 but it is evident in their faces that they had fun. So, ‘til next sports day, “Let’s Go, Dragons!”.
