It was a privilege for the Library Team to organize the Poetry Event 2019 entitled “IGNITE“. A total of eight performers and three singers showed their talent in poetry and music. Their words and stanzas of love, friendship, and reflection brought us to a poetic journey. Excitement, anticipation and smiles were seen in the faces of the Faculty and Staff as they listened to the words of rhyme and lyric.

The memorable event was opened by a powerful piece entitled “Still Waters”, an original poem composition that described our lives in contrast with the seasons of our lives. Laughter was heard when one of our Science teachers recited her piece called “IB Learner profile”, on how she has applied all the 10 IB attributes in her journey as a wife. Love filled the air when a Faculty member shared how love arrives in its beautiful timing.

The crowd got a taste of Mexican poetry when our Spanish teacher read an excerpt from “You bring out the Mexican in me”, by Sandra Cisneros.

It concluded on a high note when we were serenaded by our very own Deputy Director with her own version of “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic” and “Buses and Trains”.

To look back, here are some photos of the event:

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”

J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
