Fresh Market

This month, Grade 5  students focused on the topic ” Fresh Market.” Students learned the words according to the different categories. Then, the teacher created three scenes happened in fresh market: Scenario one was they would go to fresh market with their parents. Scenario two was they would buy something in the fresh market and also they would communicate with”……多少钱?/可以便宜吗?/……三块五毛一斤. Scenario three was they finished their task in fresh market. Students discussed what they would do in the fresh market in class, composed the script and translated. At last,they had fun acting them out as they have learned the following Chinese words and sentences : 白菜,西红柿,黄瓜,南瓜,虾,鱼,鱼肉,鸡肉,牛排,苹果,梨,菠萝,葡萄,木瓜;The sentences :我家附近有个菜市场/菜市场里有…… /……多少钱?/可以便宜吗?/大白菜两块五毛一斤。


Students were asked to look up the meaning of the opposite words then to match them in pairs. And also students played Bingo Game in the class.

Welcome back!

Four weeks ago, the grade 5 students focus on the topic about Stationary文具. Students have reviewed the words and sentences structures of Text 1. At the same time, they studied the words of Text 2, learned how to write , memorize words and construct sentences with these words and sentence structure.

Each mandarin student learned the words and review the words.

Words: 里边,外边,文具盒,就,忘记,借,行,计算,别,同学

Sentence structure: 一…….就, 我可以借……, 还给……., 行/不行13

And also students have prepared for Chinese New Year, they are much passionate to perform. Teachers guide them to practice the script and dance.1

For past few weeks, grade 4&5 students pay more attention to Lesson 8 & Lesson 9: School Facilities(学校设施)and Stationary(文具). Students they have reviewed the words and sentences structures of Lesson 8. Meanwhile, they studied the words of Lesson 9, learned to listen, speak, read and write. They try their best to make the sentences with the sentence structures. And also teacher grades the students ‘videos of introduction for Our School. During the class, students they had fun playing games: Drawing the School Facilities, Match words with pictures. 121 Vocabulary for reviewing:

Mid – Autumn Festival


The Mid-Autumn Festival is a harvest festival notably celebrated by the Chinese people. The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with full moon. The Chinese traditionally eat moon cakes, a rich pastry typically filled with sweet bean paste, during this festival.

Mid – Autumn Festival celebrates three fundamental concepts that are closely connected: Gathering, such as family and friends coming together. It’s said that the moon is the brightest and roundest on this day, which means family reunion. This is the main reason why people think mid-autumn is important.



Thanksgiving,  to give thanks for the harvest, or for harmonious unions.

Praying (asking for conceptual or material satisfaction), such as for babies, a spouse, beauty, longevity, or for a good future.


Last week, it was the school’s “Mid-Autumn Festival Week,” a week where students are introduced to this Chinese celebration. At the end of the week, the students played a dice game that students thoroughly enjoyed, and this game involves six dice and a China bowl. Students from every grade are having fun with the game, dicing and winning the gifts.
