Starting is always a dilemma. Kicking off with the first weeks after students had their summer break is very essential. Much reviews needs to be done as it will be the foundation of whatever is to be learned.  It will either make or break every learner.
Grades 6, 7 and 8 Math in Chinese International School is aligned to the Common Core and Diploma Program of the International Baccalaureate Organization. Mathematics in the middle years is every learners transitioning stage from Math with so much play to math with one question covering multiple lessons. It  can be tough yet fulfilling as student progress  they’ll be able to internalize the concepts.

 As an introduction of Math 8, students were reviewed about the topic laws of exponents.

Grade 7 also learned about the real number system as the starting lesson. With its two main subsets rational and irrational numbers.


Pi as an example of irrational number (non-repeating and non-terminating)

For grade 6 we had the properties of Whole Numbers as the first lesson.
