In celebration of the International School Library Month, students in Upper School were asked to create book trailers using Animoto or any video-editing of their choice, and submit entries to the Book Trailer Competition organized by the the Upper School Library.
The book trailers also became one of the summative exercises of the students for the 1st Quarter, meeting the ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for Creativity and Innovation, particularly in creating an original project using a variety of media and formats to present content information to an audience. Students had a choice of doing the book trailers individually or by group. In any case, all submitted book trailers were very creative. Judges of the competition, teachers from CISM and other international schools, had a hard time selecting the finalists. In the end, judges unanimously chose the winners of the competition: Marjorie of Gr. 10 for the book trailer of Train Man by Hitori Nakano, and Louie and Pamela of Gr. 7 for the book trailer of The Giver by Lois Lowry.
