Mulan Jr., the Musical

The maidens ready to perform anytime!

Grades 1 – 3 female participants waiting for their turn to perform

On April 1st, students at CISM had another great opportunity to showcase their singing, acting and dancing talents!  They had been rehearsing for several months and their hard work paid off when they finally staged the musical “Mulan Jr.”  In the scenes, the girls helped Mulan dress up and look ladylike, while the boys trained to defend their community from the enemies.

Here’s what 2MP performers have to say about their experience:

“It put a great smile on my face.  When I faced the audience, it felt like it was the best time of my life!”

“It was a bit scary because I was in front of about a hundred people, and also fun because I like the fact that I was a villager!  It was my second play.”

“I was a little bit nervous and scared because there was a big audience.  In the end, I felt happy and excited because I saw my mom!”

“It was fun because I got to have a break and I got to learn some new steps.  I was happy that everybody liked our performance!”

“I learned how to dance and it was fun because I had free time!”

“Mulan was very fun because I got to sing and dance with all my friends and I also had free time to play.  Onstage it was very fun because we were all dancing together!”

“Mulan was very fun!  We got to play with other people who joined.  I liked our performance because we had lots of steps.”

In Social Studies, the class welcomes the last quarter of the school year with the unit on Philippines – both as host country and home country for different children.  Just like the unit on Home Countries, they are learning about the 6 Fs – Flag, Famous people, Festival, Food, Folklore and Fashion in the country.

Children whose home country is the Philippines demonstrated how to prepare the tapsilog, pastillas and banana bread.  The rest of the class had a taste of each and truly enjoyed them so much!  Thanks to all the parents for helping their children prepare for this activity!
