IMG_8983Last February 4, 2019, our school celebrated one of the biggest events everyone’s been waiting for – Chinese New Year. Our day was filled with lots of fun activities that celebrated the grandeur Chinese culture. We were so happy to see our friends and family join us here at school.

Our day started off with a Lion Dance which depicted the true meaning of Chinese New Year. The Lion is also a symbol of good luck for the Chinese Community.

The lion then came to our classroom to give out coins and candy! We were very scared to go near him at first, but we would do anything for CANDY!

We also practiced our Chinese dance for weeks, which we were very excited and confidently showcased on stage. We showed our friends and family our best dance moves!

We also made a traditional Chinese Dessert – Almond Jelly!

Can you believe we cut up the ingredients ourselves?

It was pretty easy to make! We hope we can make again at our homes.

We had such a fun day celebrating the Chinese culture, but it was made even more special since we got to share and celebrate it with our friends here at school. Till next year!
