Mock Internal Assessment (IA)

This week, Grade 12 Mandarin Ab Initio students will have their Mock IA — Please see the powerpoint for guidelines

Parts One and Two:

a. When the 15 minutes are up.  I will call you and the recording will start.

b. Once prompted, you should say your full name (first name and last name), IB candidate number and which picture you have chosen. For example:

我的名字是 ___________,我的号码是 _________ (read the number in Chinese),我选第二张照片。

You should speak very clearly.

c. I will then prompt you to start the description with a phrase such as “请你介绍一下你看到的照片”.

d. You have 1-2 minutes to describe the picture. Make sure you are aware of the time. When you finish, please tell me “我的描述就到这里。”

e. I will then ask questions about the picture for about 2-3 minutes.

Part Three:

a. I will indicate the beginning of this part by saying “第一和二部分的口试就到这儿。接下来是第三部分的口试。”

b. You must know the title of your Mock Written Assignment, as it will be asked for. Part Three will begin with two questions about the Mock Written Assignment, such as:

  • 你的书面作业是关于什么的?What is your written assignment about?
  • 你为什么选择这个题目?Why did you choose this as your written assignment?
  • 从书面作业中你学到了什么?What did you learn from the written assignment?

c. I will then ask general questions about the topics studied in the course (4-5 minutes). The questions are designed in such way that you must use different verb expression, in particular present, past, future; and demonstrate the variety and richness of vocabulary.

d. You must make sure to answer in complete sentences and always justify your answers with sentences connectors such as 但是、可是、却.

e. To end the recording, I will say “考试结束,谢谢!”.
